Before becoming an independent insurance agent, I was an Account Executive in the small group sales division with UnitedHealthcare, in South Florida.

What is your Day Like?

I assist customers in selecting products and answering questions about any other issues concerning the selection of Medicare related products. This involves scheduling appointments and conducting Community Meetings for Medicare eligible consumers within CMS guidelines.

What did you do before becoming an Independent Career Agent for UnitedHealthcare Medicare Solutions?

I was an Officer in the U.S. Air Force, who worked primarily in the Cyberspace Operations career field. While in the military, I was a deployed Commander, Senior Trainer for AFROTC, and a Congressional Fellow for a U.S. Senator.

What did you do before becoming an Independent Career Agent for UnitedHealthcare Medicare Solutions?

I have 51 years in the insurance industry, 26 years at Blue Cross and 14 years at UnitedHealthcare. Retired in 2005 When Part D came in 2006, I was approached by UnitedHealthcare to help with their meetings. I started as a Salesman in 2007. I did not do Community Meetings until 2011. I have doubled my production since then.

I am responsible for the recruiting, training, onboarding, compliance oversight, lead management and engagement of the Independent Career Agent channel. My end task is to meet sales expectations and maintain better than adequate compliance and ethics.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I really enjoy the interaction with the agents. I love to see them learn and grow and to become successful men and women who serve our clients, and meet our core values.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I LOVE that we help people have a better quality of life. Our products and services do things like: (1) Give members a place to interact, be social, and work on their health. (Silver Sneakers) (2) Free up our member's money so they can buy groceries, pay electricity bills, or buy a birthday gift for their grandchildren. (Low, predictable out of pocket costs) (3) Make it possible for people to have lifesaving procedures they normally would not be able to afford.

What is your day like?

Strategizing for the entire market, working cooperatively with RSD to set and achieve objectives, managing staff, analyzing data (SMRT, Lead Yield, Agent 360, bConnected, etc..) speaking to brokers and ICAs, handling escalations, prioritizing training initiatives with Agent Managers, etc.

What is your favorite part of your job?

There is never a dull moment, and there is always something that could be done to more effectively and efficiently achieve objectives. I have the opportunity to work with a variety of individuals, and to share in success when agent managers and agents benefit from their hard work. My favorite part of the job is strategizing and being analytical. I like to look at the entire market and figure out where and how we could do better.

What is your day like?

I am responsible for meeting sales goals across the 52 counties of Upstate New York, so each day I’m analyzing sales results and working with my team of Agent Managers to motivate our agents and drive sales. I’m a huge proponent of agent self-generation, so I speak with my team on a daily basis about local area marketing activities. I monitor lead volume and adjust lead routing rules so that we can achieve the best results from our investment. On a daily basis I’m also keeping an eye on compliance to make sure our agents are follow all regulatory and UnitedHealthcare guidelines.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I love being part of The Most Admired Health Care Company (for the 3rd year running.) Aside from that--when I was little I spent weekends with my grandmother who volunteered as a "Pink Lady" at a local nursing home. As she delivered newspapers and coffee to residents, I sat in the activity room playing.
